Continual Professional Development (CPD)

As a CPD Certification Service approved CPD provider, we offer a programme of training seminars to support those in the construction industry in their Continual Professional Development.

The presentations we offer, focus on damp, timber decay and basement waterproofing and are technical and case study based. The objective is to leave the audience with a thorough understanding of the subject and provide the opportunity to discuss and answer questions on scenarios that you may have come across.

All attendees will receive a Certificate of Attendance issued by the Certification Service which states the number of CPD hours accrued.

We deliver our CPD’s free of charge at a time and place that suits you and your colleagues. We are more than happy to discuss adapting content to suit the requirements of the audience.

Each CPD course lasts for 1 hour.

Damp in Buildings: Property Threats, Diagnosis and Remediation Techniques

Course Content

The CPD looks firstly at the investigative methods and the part diagnosis plays in determining the type of dampness in properties. It then examines the technical techniques used to combat damp problems considering which are the most effective and appropriate for the identified issue.

Learning Objective

The CPD will aid the understanding of building professionals in the identification of damp issues.  It will highlight how correct diagnosis and subsequent treatment programmes are vital to ensure properties are preserved and protected for the long term.

Timber Decay in Buildings: Causes and Modern Approach to Treatment

Course Content

The CPD covers wet and dry rot, insect manifestations and appearance of timber degradation.  It examines the conditions required to cause timber failure and the solutions commonly used, including the benefits of rebuild solutions, replacement and chemical aids appropriate to the problem and the property.

Learning Objective

This CPD will aid the understanding of building professionals as to the type and characteristics of the causes of timber decay. It will highlight the various methods of treatment and how those can be used appropriately to maintain the structural integrity of a property.

Basement and Below Ground Waterproofing: Examining Key Factors for Long Term Success

Course Content:

The presentation looks at BS 8102: 2009 and the appropriate level of basement protection based on the end use. The presentation also examines the specification of waterproofing systems and the products available as well as consideration to the issue of Radon Gas.

Learning Objective

Intended for construction professionals, the CPD will educate on the role of the Basement System Designer and Waterproofing Contractor within the design and build process.  It will also aid the understanding of the types of products and complexity of systems used to ensure a dry and safe basement and so long term success of a project.
