A key element of a waterproofing system, is how the collection and discharge of ground and foul water is managed to ensure the basement stays dry and protected from any risk of flooding. Most waterproofing projects use a sump and pump collection system to do this and ProTen’s role is to specify and install a pump system that is right for the environment in which it is being placed. The pumps and products we specify are industry approved and supplied to us by the best manufacturers. We only use products that we have vetted and have passed our strict product approval process.
The criteria we consider when specifying a basement sump and pump system is as follows:

Regular servicing of the basement sump and pump system is essential to keep them in the best condition and stop problems from happening. Importantly, evidence of regular servicing to the sump and pump system is required to validate the ProTen Basement Waterproofing Guarantee and your own Home Insurance should the worst happen.
Lack of sump and pump maintenance can cause problems through silt and lime scale build up causing blockages in the channels beneath the floor and reducing the effectiveness of the pump’s ability to remove water away. Without regular servicing, problems with the alarms which alert to high water levels, and failure of battery backup systems which may be needed in the event of random high water levels, can also go undetected.
We advise you to use a reputable pump servicing company and ProTen can offer advice on this. Servicing should include inspection to the chamber and fittings to check components are working freely, signs of any wear and tear, an operation check to monitor flow and discharge rate alarm, back up pumps and electrical control panels are all working effectively and a pump maintenance including a basic clean to ensure the chamber is free from debris.
